SEO apps for the iPhone in comparison
With a market share of around 25% for the iPhone, Apple has a strong presence in Germany. Among other things, Apple enjoys true brand loyalty and has established a clear image. The iPhone is the mobile device of choice for business people in particular. It suggests success, business, exclusivity – in short, prestige. As a result, the number of SEO apps that run on the iOS operating system is increasing. A hardly surprising fact. Search engine optimization is and remains more important than ever if we take a look at the upcoming changes regarding personalized advertising by Google, for example. (You can find the blog post here: 2022 Google will stop tracking & personalized advertising)
Both iPhones and tablets are becoming more and more popular and simplify everyday working life. There’s nothing better than using your SEO app to check the performance of a website without obligation. Whether during the train journey or the lunch break; quickly take your cell phone out of your pocket and run a check with a few simple clicks. This is exactly what makes SEO apps so popular and ensures that more and more can be found in the App Store.
But can the apps stand up to comparison with real programs? In other words: Is it practical and good to be able to check the performance of your own website during a train journey, for example, or are the results so marginal that it is more worthwhile to run the “right programs” on the computer?
They may be nice tools for amateurs who trade more out of interest. What do SEO experts say: Is it worth it and can you actually work with the apps (and if so, which ones?) or should you rather use the train journey to answer emails?
We took a closer look at some of the apps for you and saw how they perform from an SEO perspective.

Google Analytics
Probably the best-known app is no different from the web version. The data that can be read out via the web version can also be read out in the app. Traffic, bounce rate, dwell time, the relationship between desktop and mobile and all other functions.
For those who are not familiar with Google Analytics and would like to learn more about the SEO possibilities: There is a lot that can be measured, especially in the areas of target group, acquisition and user behavior. This includes, for example, the location from which visitors access the website and the languages they speak. In the same way as the users reached the site in the first place, i.e. via social media, organic search or similar. Another interesting function is the evaluation of traffic. How many users were particularly active on which page at which time (day and time).
In conclusion
Google Analytics is a popular app for a reason and is not unknown to most people. SEO experts and website operators alike do not want to do without this tool – and rightly so. It offers a comprehensive insight into user behavior and the target group in the form of figures, data and facts. It’s free, reliable and convenient. However, this information is only limited to the domain’s own URL.

OSG Performance Suite
Here, too, the SEO tool was first launched as a desktop version and is now available as a mobile app. OSG Performance Suite also excels at providing an overview of important measured values. There is an SEA and SEO dashboard, a roadmap and a section for events. With the option of alerts, changes to the website can be communicated directly.
The SEO Dashboard can be linked to other SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Xovi or Sistrix, for example. A strong plus point from an SEO perspective. OSG Performance Suit is subject to a charge, but comes in a free demo version that already offers areas such as traffic, keywords (search terms), visibility, backlinks/links, indexed pages and content. However, if you want to get the full potential out of the app, you have to pay, but the functions are more than sufficient for a general overview,
Backlinks, for example, can be entered and tracked. The ranking of keywords can also be tracked. The individual keywords can even be displayed as a ranking history over time.
In conclusion
OSG Performance Suite offers a very good overview because it can also be linked to other tools. The demo version is sufficient if you want to have your own projects compact and clearly arranged on the iPhone. If you would like to use additional functions designed for online marketing, you are welcome to test the paid version.

SEO Pirates
Some people have made positive comments about SEO Pirates. So the app naturally piqued our interest. When the app starts, you will be prompted to enter the domain. Unfortunately, that’s as far as it goes. The actual function of the app is to analyze various websites. Including the basics: loading times, ranking etc. There is a clear list of keywords, metadata and links. The tool also shows whether your own website is on the blacklist or has been flagged in some other way. Social signals can be used to check whether the website is mentioned on social media channels. A nice-to-have feature is that the data can be downloaded as a PDF.
In conclusion
Despite the positive comments, it is difficult to say anything about SEO Pirates. Many people feel the same way as we do and the app doesn’t get past the prompt or doesn’t start at all. Perhaps there are technical problems at the moment. If SEO Pirates works, we may venture into the app for new feedback.

Matomo Mobile 2
Matomo Mobile 2 is the app sibling of Google Analytics in a more comprehensive version. It works on the same principle of embedding code on your own website to get an overview of the data. The app has an easy-to-understand structure and two main categories called Live and Reports.
Live shows – as the name suggests – which users are currently on your website and from where they are doing so, in the form of a large world map. Under Reports you can find out more data about the origin of the users, the interactions and how the page was accessed.
In conclusion
Matomo Mobile 2 does not differ greatly from Google Analytics and therefore receives a similar rating from us. A solid app for a general overview of your own website. Ultimately, the only decision is whether Matomo Mobile 2 or Google Analytics will be the app of choice.

Seobility SEO Check
Seobility SEO Check comes with an overview of the important metadata of your own website. This is not the only function that this app checks. She analyzes the link building, your web design and the ranking in the search engine results. If errors are found, the app will automatically create a list of what needs to be done to improve the ranking position and become more relevant for the search engine.
In conclusion
Seobility SEO Check not only provides an essential overview of the entire content of the website, but can also analyze it and make important suggestions for improvement based on the results. This makes the app very attractive and worth recommending.

The App Store Optimization – overall conclusion
On our search through the App Store, we came across some interesting SEO apps. Compared to then, the market and supply and demand have grown considerably. This also speaks for all available apps in general. iPhones and iPads are increasingly being used – and the trend is rising. This also applies to Androids and tablets. The market and the importance of mobile first is becoming increasingly present and strong. For those who offer apps in the app stores, this means exactly the same as for website operators – success needs visibility. Where there is a lot of demand, there is also a lot of supply, and your own app would love to be at the top of the search results. ASO (App Store Optimization) is also an important form of search engine optimization in order to be relevant for the search engine and to stand up to the competition with your keywords.
To support this, there are many SEO apps that make it easy to analyze and check your website from anywhere. Realistically speaking, an app cannot achieve the scope that expensive SEO tools offer for the desktop. That is almost impossible and not the goal at all. From the perspective of an SEO expert, many apps have proven to be useful and surprisingly positive and are definitely worth a try.
Test yourself, see what suits you and brings the greatest benefit.
