The task of the backlink analysis is to analyze all links of a domain with regard to their seriousness, suitability and usefulness. The Disavow tool invalidates “spam links” or “toxic links“. It is particularly important to analyze your own backlinks if you have been penalized manually or by an algorithm. The backlinks are therefore not used for advice, but only as “tipsters”.
Start of the backlink analysis
To get a comprehensive overview of all the backlinks on your website, you can either use the Google Webmaster Tool or another free tool.
Extremely helpful link research tools are offered to identify the “toxic” backlinks. The links can be categorized automatically. This is done via the Link Dtox option. These are then invalidated with an API in the Google Webmaster Tool.
Evaluation of the links
After the majority of the links have been collected, the “toxic” links are filtered, which are the reason for a manual or algorithmic penalty.
The following key questions should be considered in the analysis:
Is there an imprint on the linked page?
Does the content reflect high quality?
Do the topics of the website match?
Is it necessary to install an AdBlocker in order to access the content of the site?
How do you personally feel about the page you want to link to? Would you use them yourself?
What about your own links?
In which area (head, body, footer) is the link to be found?
Is there a sidewide link?
What does the anchor text look like?
Does the link provide the user with added value in terms of further information?
Are the links between the words in a text “natural”?
Does the page look professional or does it look like a “fake”?
When answering the above questions, you should check whether there is a difference between the entire domain and the page containing the links. Does the domain seem more trustworthy than the linked page?
Review by SEO
After the “toxic” links have been filtered out, the filtered links must be checked. In the best case, this is done by a person who is very familiar with SEO.
Use of the Disavow tool
Once it is clear that all “toxic” links have been identified, the file is uploaded to the Google Disavow Tool in .txt format. Such a list could look like this, for example:
https://www.beispiel.de/unterseite1/unterseite2 https://www.beispiel.de https://www.beispiel.de ← All backlinks on the homepage are devalued.
domain: example.com ← The links of the entire domain are invalidated.
To avoid potential errors, you should consult with an experienced SEO agency before using the Disavow tool.
