As announced by Google, the core update will be launched on time on June 6, 2021. The silence does not last long, as the update is already clearly noticeable in the first few days.
It took about four days for the first changes to be seen after the Google Core Update officially began. These changes were visible via various ranking trackers, which can be used to track changes in the SERPs. These include RankRanger, cognitiveSEO and the Google Update Radar.
How the radar works
The search results lists are always in motion. It will rarely be the case that they stagnate. This is due to the fact that Google comes into contact with diverse content on a daily basis. Be it new content that is added to the index; content that loses relevance or is deleted. These can be new websites, blog posts or other diverse content.
There is talk of so-called everflux, which indicates the movement – i.e. a continuous fluctuation – of the results and positions of the SERPs.
This is particularly useful when Google makes certain updates – especially the big changes. This can lead to major shifts, as the update can influence the algorithm and the ranking and must first settle before it takes full effect.
Thanks to the daily update, everyone has an optimal overview of whether any sudden losses in the ranking are due to their own person or occur due to an update, as not only the website operator himself, but many operators are affected by changes and to what extent.
Increased SERP fluctuation values
While it still looks very balanced on the German search results pages, clearly recognizable changes and fluctuations are visible in the USA. These fluctuations apply to the mobile and desktop SERPs. The time of the update can be seen in the following graphics.
Little enthusiasm for website operators
There are mixed opinions about the update in forums. Some report little change and would rather describe the situation as calm. Others, however, mention how serious the changes have been for them – with little positive enthusiasm.
These are some statements from those affected:
“The last few days it was quiet, now the update is showing its face. As always, when we have improved the site again despite all the highs / lows and increased our income, it goes down again.”
“The last few days have been quiet, now the update is showing its face. As always, once we’ve improved the site again despite all the ups and downs and increased our revenue, things start to go downhill again.”
“Since today started noticing changes. It is very hard to say what exactly the impact is, but it seems negative right now. Have a reason to believe that in further week SERPs can start moving drastically, and we will see the final result for this update.”

The impact in Germany
As already mentioned, things are a little quieter in Germany as far as the update is concerned. The SERPs have only minimal outlier values, but largely run at a low average value.
What does this mean for the SERPs?
Even if the graphic in the margin dramatically describes the risk level and many critical voices also report their losses in the ranking, it should not be forgotten that these are the beginnings of an update. At the moment, Google’s algorithm seems to be influencing the ranking very inconsistently – despite previous SEO measures and extensive maintenance.
But don’t despair because of this, just be patient for a little while longer. It should not be forgotten how major updates can always influence the order of the Google search engine. The bigger the update, the more chaotic it often is.
Rightly an annoying situation, but we should bear in mind that an update takes around two weeks to take full effect. Also, don’t forget that another update will follow immediately after the June update in July to correct the unintended effects of the current update for most websites.
So take a look at the radar from time to time to check whether it is a personal error that is affecting your ranking or whether a general major update by Google is the possible cause.
